He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 to him thou attendest 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And he feareth 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
