The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Last Day came near, and the moon split apart. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They deny the truth and follow their own whims, every matter has its appointed time, 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 with down-cast eyes they shall go forth from their graves, as though they were scattered locusts. 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ Before these, the people of Nooh denied and they belied Our bondman and said, “He is a madman” and rebuffed him. 9 Then he called on his Lord: "I am one overcome: do Thou then help (me)!" 10 Then We opened the gates of heaven unto water torrential, 11 And caused springs to gush out from the earth, so that the two waters met totalling a quantity that had been destined. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who will be warned? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 Lo! We let loose on them a raging wind on a day of constant calamity, 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
