The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and its midmorning, 1 and by the moon as it follows it, 2 and by the day when it displays him 3 by the night when it covers the earth with darkness, 4 by the sky and how He built it 5 and by the earth and how He spread it, 6 Consider the human self, and how it is formed in accordance with what it is meant to be, 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 and failed is he who buried it! 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 When the basest of them broke forth 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 But they cried him lies, and hamstrung her, so their Lord crushed them for their sin, and leveled them: 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15
