The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But he who is a greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We will facilitate for him the difficult end. 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
