The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoins piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
