The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 or orders piety? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
