Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They said: we worship idols, and we are unto them ever devoted 71 'Do they hear you when you call on them' He asked. 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 He said: have ye observed that which ye worship 75 You and your fathers? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 They will then be thrown into Hell with those who had gone astray 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 When we made you equal to the Lord of the worlds; 98 No one but the sinners led us astray. 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
