(The tribe of) A'ad denied the messengers (of Allah). 123 Their brother Hud asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 124 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust: 125 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 126 And I ask of you no hire therefor: my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 and raise strong mansions as if you were to live forever? 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 Fear Him who has bestowed on you what you know, 132 Who has provided you with flocks and children 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They replied, "It makes no difference to us whether you preach or do not preach, 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 So they rejected him, and We destroyed them. Verily in this is a Sign: but most of them do not believe. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
