The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 I am a trustworthy Messengers sent to you. 125 Fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you for it. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 127 You construct monuments on every hill in vain, 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 And will you [always,] whenever you lay hand [on others,] lay hand [on them] cruelly, without any restraint? 130 So fear Allah and obey me. 131 And fear He who provided you with that which you know, 132 He has given you flocks and sons, 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 "Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 "This is no other than a customary device of the ancients, 137 and we shall never be punished' 138 Then they accused him of lies; so We annihilated them. Verily there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
