And We created not the heaven and the earth and all that is between them in vain. That is the opinion of those who disbelieve. And woe unto those who disbelieve, from the Fire! 27 Shall We treat those who believe and do good like the mischief-makers in the earth? Or shall We make those who guard (against evil) like the wicked? 28 This is a Book which We have sent down upon you, a blessed Book, for them to ponder upon its verses, and for men of intellect to accept advice. 29 We gave David Solomon. He was an excellent servant who always turned to God. 30 When fast footed steeds were presented to him at evening. 31 And he said, "Truly do I love the love of good, with a view to the glory of my Lord,"- until (the sun) was hidden in the veil (of night): 32 Return them to me!' And he began to stroke their shanks and necks. 33 Certainly We tried Solomon, and We cast upon his throne a mere body; then he repented. 34 Saying: "O Lord, forgive me, and give me such a dominion as none will merit after me. You are the great bestower." 35 Then We subjected the wind to his power, to flow gently to his order, Whithersoever he willed,- 36 And the unruly, every builder and diver (made We subservient), 37 and others also, coupled in fetters: 38 (Saying): This is Our gift, so bestow thou, or withhold, without reckoning. 39 He has a high position with Us and an excellent abode. 40
