Have you [Prophet] considered the man who turned away, 33 And gave a little and [then] refrained? 34 Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see? 35 Hath he not been told of that which is in the writs of Musa. 36 And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?- 37 That no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 and that his labouring shall surely be seen, 40 And only then will he receive his recompense in full; 41 that all things in the end shall return to God; 42 and that He it is Who causes people to laugh and to cry, 43 And that it is He (Allah) Who causes death and gives life; 44 and that He Himself created the two sexes: male and female, 45 From a drop of liquid, when it is added? 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 that He is the Lord of Sirius, 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 and Thamud, leaving no trace of them, 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 And He brought perdition upon the subverted cities 53 And covered them by that which He covered. 54 Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt. 55 This [Prophet] is a warner like the former warners. 56 The Imminent is imminent; 57 [although] none but God can unveil it.... 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 and do they laugh instead of weeping, 60 And you are lost in play! 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
