The people of Noah [too] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 105 span class="col">Their brother Noah asked them, "Why do you not fear God? 106 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 107 So keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 108 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 109 Hence, remain conscious of God, and pay heed unto me!" 110 ۞ They said: "Shall we believe in thee when it is the meanest that follow thee?" 111 He said: I have no knowledge of that which they have been Working. 112 Their reckoning is upon my Lord, if ye but knew. 113 I will not drive away the believers. 114 I am only a clear warner' 115 They said: "If thou desist not, O Noah! thou shalt be stoned (to death)." 116 [Whereupon] he prayed: "O my Sustainer! Behold, my people have given me the lie: 117 Therefore judge Thou between me and them with a (just) judgment, and deliver me and those who are with me of the believers. 118 So We delivered him and those with him, in the Ark filled (with all creatures). 119 and drowned the rest. 120 In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 121 And lo, thy Lord, He is indeed the Mighty, the Merciful. 122
