The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Have you heard the story of Moses? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 [saying], "Go to Pharaoh, he has exceeded all bounds, 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 Moses showed him the great miracle 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So Allah seized him (and made him) an example for the after (life) and for the former. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
