The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 They will dwell in the Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from the latter. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 And fruit in plenty 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth, 35 And made them virginal, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
