Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment." 1 He said: "O my people, I warn you clearly 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. "Now do pay heed unto me, 3 He will forgive you some of your faults and grant you a delay to an appointed term; surely the term of Allah when it comes is not postponed; did you but know! 4 He said: "O my Lord! I have called to my People night and day: 5 but my calling has only increased them in flight. 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 Then I summoned them openly, 8 and spoke to them in public and in private." 9 "I said (to them): 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; Verily, He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will send you abundant rain from the sky, 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 "'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,- 13 seeing He created you by stages? 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 and placed therein the moon as a light and the sun as a torch. 16 God produced you from the earth like a vegetable growth; 17 He will then return you back to it, and bring you out again. 18 And Allah has made for you the earth wide spread (an expanse). 19 So that you may walk upon its spacious paths.' 20
