He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 You pay full attention, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and palms 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and herbage 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
