The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
