The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
