The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Nay, I swear by this city - 1 And thou shalt be allowed in yonder city 2 and [I call to witness] parent and offspring: 3 We have indeed created man surrounded by hardships. 4 Thinketh he that none hath power over him? 5 saying, 'I have consumed wealth abundant'? 6 Does he believe that none has seen him? 7 Have We not appointed to him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 And have shown him the two ways? 10 But he could not scale the steep ascent. 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 Or the giving of food in a day of privation 14 An orphan, of kin, 15 and downtrodden destitute person, (so that he would be of) 16 then that he become of those who believe and counsel each other to be steadfast, and counsel each other to be merciful. 17 They are those on the Right Hand (the dwellers of Paradise), 18 and [as for] those who are bent on denying the truth of Our revelations, they are the people of the left hand, 19 Upon them shall be a Fire that will hem them in. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.

Notes and Instructions
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
