And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat. 33 We have placed in it gardens of date palms and vines, and caused springs to gush [forth] from it, 34 so that they may eat its fruit, though it was not their hands that made this. Will they not then be grateful? 35 Holy is He who created all things in pairs; of what the earth grows, and of themselves, and other things which they do not know. 36 And a sign for them is the night, We withdraw therefrom the day, and behold, they are in darkness. 37 And the sun -- it runs to a fixed resting-place; that is the ordaining of the All-mighty, the All-knowing. 38 And the moon, We have measured for it mansions (to traverse) till it returns like the old dried curved date stalk. 39 It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit. 40 Another Sign for them is that We carried all their offspring in the laden vessel 41 and [that] We create for them things of a similar kind, on which they may embark [in their travels]; 42 If it were Our Will, We could drown them: then would there be no helper (to hear their cry), nor could they be delivered, 43 It is only Our Mercy (that rescues them) and enables enjoyment of life for a while. 44 Whenever they are told to guard themselves against sin and the forth coming torment so that perhaps they could receive mercy 45 Indeed, not one of your Lord's signs comes to them without their turning away from it, 46 And when they are told, "Spend ye of (the bounties) with which Allah has provided you," the Unbelievers say to those who believe: "Shall we then feed those whom, if Allah had so willed, He would have fed, (Himself)? Ye are in nothing but manifest error." 47 Further, they say, "When will this promise (come to pass), if what ye say is true?" 48 They will not have to wait long. When the Day of Judgment comes, it will only take a single blast of sound to strike them while they are quarrelling with one another. 49 And they will not be able to make a disposition, nor to their family they return. 50
