The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What do you think? Have you seen if he belies and turns away, 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
