Did you not see those who dispute concerning Allah's Signs? Whence are they, then, being turned astray? 69 Those who belie the Book and that message wherewith We sent Our apostles, presently they shall come to know. 70 When the shackles are around their necks and the chains; they will be dragged 71 into the boiling water, then into the Fire they are poured; 72 Then shall it be said to them: "Where are the (deities) to which ye gave part-worship- 73 "In derogation of Allah?" They will reply: "They have left us in the lurch: Nay, we invoked not, of old, anything (that had real existence)." Thus does Allah leave the Unbelievers to stray. 74 "That was because ye were wont to rejoice on the earth in things other than the Truth, and that ye were wont to be insolent. 75 Enter the gates of Hell to abide therein, and (indeed) what an evil abode of the arrogant! 76 Wherefore persevere thou; verily the promise of Allah is true; then whether We let thee see a part of that wherewith We have promised them, or whether We cause thee to die, unto Us they all will be caused to return. 77 Indeed We sent many Messengers before you: of them there are some whose account We have narrated to you and there are others whose account We have not narrated to you. It did not lie in any Messenger's power to bring any Sign except with Allah's leave. So when Allah's decree came, the matter was decided with justice, and those steeped in error courted utter loss, then and there. 78
