The Mountain (Al-Toor)
49 verses, revealed in Mecca after Prostration (Al-Sajdah) before Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 by the Visited House, 4 The roof raised high, 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 And the mountains will fly hither and thither. 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing. 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 And they will advance unto each other asking questions. 25 They will say: “When we were living before among our kinsfolk we lived in constant fear (of Allah's displeasure). 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
