The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what could make thee conceive what it is that comes in the night? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 he was created of gushing water 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 And it is no joke. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17

True are the words of God the Almighty.
