Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 and raised couches, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
