Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 in a sublime garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets set forth 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
