The Egyptian who bought him instructed his wife: "House him honourably. He may be of use to us. We may even adopt him as a son." So, We firmly established Joseph in the land, and taught him the interpretation of dreams. God dominated in his affairs, though most men do not know. 21 And when Joseph reached the age of maturity, We granted him judgement and knowledge. Thus do We reward those who do good. 22 And she in whose house he was sought to make himself yield (to her), and she made fast the doors and said: Come forward. He said: I seek Allah's refuge, surely my Lord made good my abode: Surely the unjust do not prosper. 23 She started towards him, and he would have succumbed to her, if he had not seen a sign from his Lord -- We did this in order to keep evil and indecency away from him, for he was truly one of Our chosen servants. 24 They both ran to the door and, in the struggle, she tore his shirt at the back. They found her husband at the door. She cried, "Shall not the man who wished to violate your wife be thrown into prison or sternly punished?" 25 [Joseph] said, "It was she who sought to seduce me." And a witness from her family testified. "If his shirt is torn from the front, then she has told the truth, and he is of the liars. 26 But if his shirt is torn from behind, then she has lied, and he is truthful." 27 So when he saw his shirt rent from behind, he said: verily it is of the guile of ye women; verily the guile of ye women is mighty. 28 “O Yusuf! Disregard this – and O woman! Seek forgiveness for your sin; indeed you are of the mistaken.” 29
