The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 by the Visited House, 4 And the lofty roof. 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 Is this magic or do you not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 And We will aid them with fruit and flesh such as they desire. 22 They will exchange cups of wine free of (incitement to) pleasantry or sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
