So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 he said: "Surely you are an unknown folk." 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 Fear God and do not shame me." 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 and We took vengeance on them. The two of them were upon a roadway manifest. 79
