Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 "Verily! They are enemies to me, save the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 Make my words come true in the future. 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And disgrace me not on the Day when (all the creatures) will be resurrected; 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 They will be asked: "Where are those you worshipped 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 So they and all the astray were flung into hell. 94 And all the armies of Iblis. (Satan) 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "By Allah, we were surely in clear error 97 When We held you (false gods) as equals (in worship) with the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists); 98 “And none misled us but the guilty.” 99 So none we have as intercessors. 100 no loyal friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
