The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Star when it goes down,- 1 Your companion does not err, nor does he go astray; 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 something that a very mighty one has imparted to him: 5 by the great mighty one (Gabriel), 6 When he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 When He revealed to His votary what He revealed. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw? 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 Near it is the Garden of Abode. 15 When that covered the lote-tree which covered it. 16 (Muhammad's) eyes did not deceive him, nor did they lead him to falsehood. 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 as well as [in] Manat, the third and last [of this triad]? 20 What! for you the male sex, and for Him, the female? 21 That were indeed an unjust division. 22 They are but names, named by you and your fathers. Allah has not sent down any authority for them. They follow conjecture and their soul's desire, eventhough the guidance of their Lord has come to them. 23 Is the human to have whatever he fancies? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
