Al-Saaffaat 4 of 5
Verily We bestowed Our favours on Moses and Aaron 114 And We saved them and their people from the great affliction, 115 And We supported them so it was they who overcame. 116 And We gave them both the Book that made (things) clear. 117 and guided them to the straight path; 118 And left (their remembrance) for posterity. 119 Peace be upon Moosa and Haroon! 120 Even thus do We reward the doers of good. 121 Surely they were both of Our believing servants. 122 And lo! Elias was of those sent (to warn), 123 When he said unto his folk: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 124 Would you call on Baal and leave the best of creators, 125 who is your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers?" 126 But they gave him the lie: and therefore they will most surely be arraigned [on Judgment Day,] 127 But not the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 128 And We let it (the beautiful praise) remain upon him in the latter (generations), 129 Peace be on Ilyas. 130 Lo! thus do We reward the good. 131 Verily he was one of Our bondmen believing. 132 And verily, Lout (Lot) was one of the Messengers. 133 Wherefore We saved him and his entire family 134 save an old woman among those that tarried; 135 Then We destroyed the rest [i.e. the towns of Sodom at the place of the Dead Sea (now) in Palestine]. [See the "Book of History" by Ibn Kathir]. 136 You pass by their desolate habitations in the morning 137 Or at night. Then how is it you do not understand? 138

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
