S (Saad)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Sad. CONSIDER this Qur'an, endowed with all that one ought to remember! 1 nay, but the unbelievers glory in their schism. 2 How many generations We have destroyed before them! And they cried out when it was too late to escape. 3 And they marvel that there should come unto them a warner from among themselves. And the infidels say: this is a magician and a liar! 4 Has he made the gods one single God? This is truly astounding.” 5 And the elders among them went forth saying: “Go ahead and be steadfast in adhering to your deities. What is being said is with a design.” 6 We have not heard of this in the latest religion. This is not but a fabrication. 7 Has this Exhortation been sent down among us only to him, to the exclusion of all others?” Nay, they are in doubt regarding My Exhortation, and are saying all this because they have not yet had any taste of My chastisement. 8 Or do they hold the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or [that] the dominion over the heavens and the earth and all that is between them is theirs? Why, then, let them try to ascend [to God-like power] by all [conceivable] means! 10 A host of deserters of the allies shall be here put to flight. 11 Cried lies before them the people of Noah, and Ad, and Pharaoh, he of the tent-pegs, 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 not one [was there] but gave the lie to the apostles - and thereupon My retribution fell due. 14
