O you apostles, eat things that are clean, and do things that are good. We are surely cognisant of what you do. 51 And verily, this community of yours is one single community, since I am the Sustainer of you all: remain, then, conscious of Me! 52 But people have cut off their affair (of unity), between them, into sects: each party rejoices in that which is with itself. 53 Wherefore leave thou them in their bewilderment for a season. 54 Do they think that in giving them wealth and children 55 We are hastening them on to good things? Aye! they perceive not. 56 Indeed, they who are apprehensive from fear of their Lord 57 And they who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 who associate none with their Lord, 59 And those who give that (their charity) which they give (and also do other good deeds) with their hearts full of fear (whether their alms and charities, etc., have been accepted or not), because they are sure to return to their Lord (for reckoning). 60 it is these who hasten to do good works and vie in so doing with one another. 61 And We task not any soul except according to its capacity, and with Us is a book speaking with truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 Nay, but their hearts are in ignorance of this (Qur'an), and they have other works, besides, which they are doing; 63 until - after We shall have taken to task, through suffering, those from among them who [now] are lost in the pursuit of pleasures - they cry out in [belated] supplication. 64 Do not cry out today. Indeed, by Us you will not be helped. 65 My verses had already been recited to you, but you were turning back on your heels 66 behaving arrogantly, and making fun, and talking nonsense (about the Book in your nightly chats)." 67 Should they not think upon the saying? Or, did anything come upon them that had not come upon their ancient forefathers? 68 Or did they not recognise their apostle, and rejected him? 69 Or say they: There is a madness in him? Nay, but he bringeth them the Truth; and most of them are haters of the Truth. 70 Had the truth followed their fancies, the heavens, the earth, and all who live in them would have surely been corrupted. No, We brought them their Remembrance; but from their Remembrance they turn away. 71 Or dost thou [O Muhammad] ask of them any worldly recompense? But [they ought to know that] recompense from thy Sustainer is best, since He is the best of providers! 72 And most surely you invite them to a right way. 73 And indeed those who do not believe in the Hereafter are deviated from the Straight Path. 74 ۞ And though We have mercy on them We may remove whatsoever of hurt is with them, surely they would persist in their exorbitance, wandering perplexed. 75 (They are such) that We seized them with chastisement (and yet) they did not humble themselves before their Lord, nor do they entreat 76 until, when We open against them a door of terrible chastisement, lo, they are sore confounded at it. 77
