And recite to them the story of Ibrahim (Abraham). 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you call?" 72 or can they benefit or harm you?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 Ye and your forefathers! 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 Who hath created me, and He guideth me. 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 "And who, I hope, will forgive me my faults on the day of Judgment. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 the day when neither wealth nor sons shall profit 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 The idol worshippers, the idols, the rebellious ones, 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 We have no intercessors now, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 Would that we had a second chance [in life,] so that we could be among the believers!" 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
