The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 By the angels hastening, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 Eyes be lowered in submission. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss. 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned his back, striving. 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
