Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And cups put in place 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
