And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 “If you were to obey a human like yourselves, then surely you are losers!” 34 Does he promise you that when you have died and become dust and bones that you will be brought forth [once more]? 35 ۞ How far, how far, is that which you are promised. 36 “There is nothing except our life of this world, we die and we live, and we are not to be raised.” 37 He is just a man who invents a lie about God; we cannot believe in him." 38 The Messenger said: "My Lord! Come to my help at their accusing me of lying." 39 He said, 'In a little they will be remorseful.' 40 And then the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them, justly and unavoidably, and We caused them to become as the flotsam of dead leaves and the scum borne on the surface of a torrent: and so - away with those evildoing folk! 41 Then after them We raised other generations. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 then We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time their messenger came to a people, they rejected him. So We destroyed them one after the other, and let them become mere tales. So away with the people who will not believe! 44 Thereafter We sent Musa and his brother Harun with Our signs and an authority manifest. 45 Unto Fir'awn and his chiefs, but they grew stiff-necked, and they were a people self-exalting. 46 They therefore said, “Shall we believe in two humans like ourselves, whereas their nation is servile to us?” 47 So they denied them and were of those destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, that haply they would be guided; 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and gave them shelter on a peaceful hillside watered by a fresh spring. 50
