So also was Jonah among those sent (by Us). 139 Recall what time he ran away unto a laden ship. 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned: 141 Then a (big) fish swallowed him and he had done an act worthy of blame. 142 and had he not been among those who exalt (Allah), 143 he would have lingered in its belly till the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ but We caused him to be cast forth on a desert shore, sick [at heart] as he was, 145 And We caused to grow over him a tree, a gourd. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (folk) or more 147 And they came to believe; so We allowed them to enjoy the good things of life for an age. 148 Now ask them whether your Lord has daughters, whereas they have sons. 149 or is it that We have created the angels female, and they [who believe them to be divine] have witnessed [that act of creation]? 150 Oh, verily, it is out of their own [inclination to] falsehood that some people assert, 151 That “Allah has offspring”; and indeed, surely, they are liars. 152 (And again of their falsehood): He hath preferred daughters to sons. 153 What is the matter with you that you make such strange judgements? 154 Will ye not then be admonished? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Bring your Book, if what you say is true! 157 They have established a kinship between Allah and the angels; and the angels know well that these people will be arraigned (as culprits). 158 Glorified is Allah! (He is Free) from what they attribute unto Him! 159 Not thus, however, [behave] God's true servants: 160 You and whatever you worship 161 you shall not tempt any against Him 162 except him who shall roast in Hell. 163 [The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position. 164 And verily we! we are ranged in ranks. 165 "And we are verily those who declare (Allah's) glory!" 166 And surely they used to say: 167 'If only we had had a Reminder from the ancients, 168 "We would have indeed been the chosen slaves of Allah (true believers of Islamic Monotheism)!" 169 Yet they disbelieve therein. Presently they shall come to know. 170 We have already given Our promise to Our Messengers 171 that it is certainly they who will be helped; 172 And that Our hosts, they verily would be the victors. 173 So turn (away) from them for a while. 174 And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 175 Then for Our punishment are they impatient? 176 When it descends on their courtyards, how terrible that morning will be for those who were warned! 177 Withdraw from them awhile 178 and see; and they too shall soon see. 179 Glory be to thy Lord, the Lord of Glory, above that they describe! 180 And peace be unto those sent (to warn). 181 And all the praise and thanks be to Allah, Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 182
Almighty Allah's Truth.
