The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount 1 and by the Book in lines 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 And the lofty roof. 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 and no one will be able to prevent it. 8 A day on which the heavens will shake with a visible shaking. 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Delighted at the bestowal of their Lord; and their Lord has saved them from the fire. 18 Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
