Al-Najm 3 of 3
Have you considered he who turns his back, 33 who at first gave a little, then later held back? 34 Does he [claim to] have knowledge of something that is beyond the reach of human perception, so that he can see [it clearly]? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 and about Abraham who fulfilled his duty (to God)? 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 and that nought shall be accounted unto man but what he is striving for; 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 And that to your Lord (Allah) is the End (Return of everything). 42 And that He it is who maketh laugh, and maketh weep, 43 That it is He Who granteth Death and Life; 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 That it is He who makes you rich and contented; 48 And that He only is the Lord of the star Sirius? 49 And that He destroyed the first [people of] 'Aad 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 And also the people of Nuh aforetime. Verily they were even greater wrong-doers and more contumacious. 52 He plunged the villages 53 and covered them with torment. 54 Then which of the favors of your Lord do you doubt? 55 This is a warner, of the warners of old. 56 The Day of Resurrection draws near, 57 Of it, [from those] besides Allah, there is no remover. 58 So are you surprised at this fact? 59 And do you laugh instead of weeping, 60 while you make merry? 61 But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)! ۩ 62

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
