The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 shall call for destruction 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
