Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 rise (to pray) the night except a little; 2 Half of it,- or a little less, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Prayer at night leaves the strongest impression on one's soul and the words spoken are more consistent. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations [with Dawah work]. 7 But recite the name of your Lord withdrawing yourself from everything, devoting yourself exclusively to Him. 8 He is the Lord of the East and the West; there is no god but He. So take Him alone for your Guardian, 9 And be patient (O Muhammad SAW) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way. 10 Leave to Me those who belie, those who lead a life of pleasure, and bear with them yet a little while. 11 Verily with Us are heavy fetters and Scorch. 12 And food that will stick in the throat, and painful torment 13 On a Day whereon the earth and the mountains shall quake, and the mountains shall become a sand-heap poured forth. 14 We have sent to you, (O men!) a messenger, to be a witness concerning you, even as We sent a messenger to Pharaoh. 15 but Pharaoh rebelled against the Messenger, so We seized him remorselessly. 16 Then how, if ye disbelieve, will ye protect yourselves upon the day which will turn children grey, 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
