Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 and by the self accusing soul (that you will certainly be resurrected). 2 Does man think that We cannot [resurrect him and] bring his bones together again? 3 Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. 4 Yet man is sceptical of what is right before him. 5 'When will the Day of Resurrection be' he asks, 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon shall be ecliped. 8 And the sun and moon are conjoined, 9 people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?" 10 Never so, for there will be no escape. 11 With your Lord alone shall on that day be the place of rest. 12 On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions). 13 Nay! man is evidence against himself, 14 even though they make excuses. 15 Do not forestall (the revelation before its completion) by acting in haste. 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation (by Us). 18 then it will be for Us to explain it. 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 And leave alone the Hereafter. 21 (Some) faces on that day shall be bright, 22 and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 believing that a crushing calamity is about to strike them. 25 Nay! When it comes up to the throat, 26 and it is said: “Is there any enchanter who can step forward and help (by his chanting)?” 27 and he knows that it is the time of parting; 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 The drive will be, on that Day, to your Lord (Allah)! 30
