Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 In which are high thrones. 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
