No! By the moon 32 By the receding night 33 And by the dawn when it brightens, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 a warning to mortal man 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, 40 about the guilty ones: 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 And did not feed the needy, 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Recompense 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 As they were frightened asses 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
