The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion, 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called to him in the holy valley, Towa: 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
