He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
