He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 to a rich man, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and fearfully, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 May man be slain how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and olives and palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
Almighty God's Truth.
