He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him you give attention. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and fearfully, 9 you ignore him. 10 Not this way this is the advice. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olives and palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
